Role Description The Air Quality Program Manager is a full-time, hybrid role based in Oak Ridge, TN, with flexibility for partial work from home. This role oversees the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of air quality programs, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing and managing air monitoring strategies, analyzing air emissions data, preparing technical reports, and supporting environmental permitting activities. The Air Quality Program Manager collaborates with cross-functional teams, external agencies, and stakeholders to address air quality issues, recommend mitigation measures, and support environmental performance goals. The role also involves managing project timelines and budgets, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to the development of policies, procedures, and best practices related to air quality management.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of air quality regulations, permitting processes, and compliance requirements at federal, state, and local levels.
- Experience with air monitoring, emissions inventory development, and interpretation of environmental and technical data.
- Proficiency in preparing clear, concise technical reports, regulatory documentation, and program plans.
- Project management skills, including scheduling, budgeting, stakeholder coordination, and vendor oversight.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with internal teams, regulators, and community stakeholders.
- Ability to analyze complex environmental issues, recommend practical solutions, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Atmospheric Science, or a related field; an advanced degree is a plus.
- Relevant professional experience in air quality, environmental compliance, or a closely related discipline; experience in regulated or industrial settings is preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, balancing on-site responsibilities in Oak Ridge, TN with remote work.
- Professional certifications (e.g., PE, CIH, CSP) or specialized air quality training are beneficial but not required.
