Role Description The Assistant Engineering Manager is a full-time, on-site role based at Grand Hyatt Singapore. This position supports the Engineering Manager in overseeing the hotel’s engineering operations, including preventive and corrective maintenance of building systems, guestroom facilities, and public areas. The role involves coordinating daily work schedules, supervising engineering and technical team members, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. The Assistant Engineering Manager collaborates with internal stakeholders and external vendors to manage system integrations, resolve technical issues, and support upgrades that enhance guest comfort, safety, and sustainability. The role also includes monitoring compliance with local regulations, maintaining accurate records, and promoting a culture of safety, service excellence, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Strong engineering management skills, with experience overseeing building systems, maintenance operations, or similar technical environments.
- Demonstrated team leadership capabilities, including coaching, performance management, and fostering collaboration in diverse, multi-disciplinary teams.
- Experience in project management, including planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and managing vendors and contractors.
- Background in software development or technology-enabled systems, and integration skills for coordinating building management, safety, or hospitality systems.
- Diploma or degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, or related field) or equivalent technical qualifications.
- Knowledge of local building codes, safety regulations, and preventive maintenance standards in hospitality or commercial properties.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to make sound decisions in time-sensitive situations.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and interact professionally with guests, peers, and vendors.
- Willingness to work on-site shifts, including weekends or evenings as required for operational needs.
- Previous experience in hotel or resort engineering operations is an advantage.
