Automation Controls Engineer Jobs in Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex at UNION

Title: Automation Controls Engineer

Company: UNION

Location: Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex

At Union, we’re not just building manufacturing lines — we’re rebuilding American industrial strength with world-class automation and uncompromising quality.

Our team consists of some of the best in their craft – with a desire to use and improve their skills. This is a life changing crew to work with.

We’re looking for battle-tested Automation Controls Engineers who thrive in high-stakes environments — Engineers who get fired up by complex systems, tight timelines, and the satisfaction of watching a brand-new line roar to life. If you’re the type who obsesses over elegant PLC logic, lives for successful SAT sign-offs, and wants your work to directly support national security, you’ll fit right in.

As a Contract Automation Controls Engineer, you will play a key role in the integration, programming, troubleshooting, and optimization of automation systems on our new 155mm artillery production line. You’ll work directly with PLCs, drives, HMIs, robotics, and safety systems to ensure reliable, high-volume manufacturing performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Program, debug, and optimize PLC logic (primarily Allen-Bradley)

• Implement SCADA interfaces

• Support integration of servo drives, robotic motion control, and industrial networks (EtherNet/IP)

• Troubleshoot electrical, controls, and instrumentation issues during commissioning

• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and process teams to meet aggressive ramp-up timelines

• Support FAT, SAT, and system validation activities

• Ensure compliance with functional safety standards (e.g., ISO 13849, NFPA 79)
