Redstone Commodity Search are working with a leading metals trading group looking to hire a Base Metals Operator / Junior Trader to join their team. This is not a pure operations role – it is a commercially focused position where you will actively trade and take on PnL responsibility, while leveraging your operational background. The role offers a clear and immediate transition into a trading seat, working closely with senior traders and developing your own book over time.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute and manage physical base metals trades, taking ownership across both commercial and operational aspects
- Actively support and contribute to trading activities including pricing, hedging and market positioning
- Develop and manage relationships with suppliers, customers and counterparties
- Take responsibility for PnL tracking, exposure management and risk alongside senior traders
- Identify and pursue trading opportunities across products and region
- Oversee end-to-end execution including logistics, documentation and settlement
- Coordinate with warehouses, shipping lines, inspection companies and financial institutions
Key Experience
- Minimum 4+ years of experience in base metals operations with clear exposure to commercial or trading activities
- Strong ambition to move into a trading role, with a commercial and PnL-driven mindset
- Solid understanding of LME markets, hedging strategies and physical trading flows
- Experience handling international shipments and full contract execution
- Familiarity with trade finance instruments including letters of credit and inventory financing
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with external counterparties
- German language skills highly desirable but not essential
