What we're looking for

We are building best-in-class electric vehicles, and for that, we are looking for an exceptional Battery Systems Engineer to join our battery development team.

You will play a key role in designing, developing, validating, and industrializing lithium-ion battery packs for our electric motorcycles and scooters. This role requires someone who enjoys solving multidisciplinary engineering challenges involving mechanical design, thermal management, electrical integration, manufacturing, testing, and product validation.

Ideally, you have several years of experience—or an internship—or at least a relevant project experiencesin battery systems or electric vehicle development. Most importantly, you are passionate about engineering, eager to learn, and willing to take ownership in a fast-paced environment where innovation and continuous improvement are part of everyday work.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop lithium-ion battery pack systems and their sub-systems for current and future vehicle platforms.
  • Develop battery pack architecture, module layout, enclosure design, busbar design, sealing concepts, and serviceability features.
  • Create detailed 3D CAD models, technical drawings, assembly documentation, BOMs, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Perform mechanical integration of battery packs within vehicle platforms while considering structural integrity, packaging constraints, manufacturability, and serviceability.
  • Design and optimize battery thermal management systems through simulation, analysis, and experimental validation.
  • Define battery pack electrical architecture including HV distribution, fusing, contactors, pre-charge circuits, sensing, and integration with the Battery Management System (BMS).
  • Collaborate closely with Mechanical, Electrical, Powertrain, Industrial Design, Manufacturing, and Supplier teams throughout the product development cycle.
  • Plan and execute battery pack validation activities including mechanical, electrical, thermal, environmental, vibration, abuse, and vehicle-level testing.
  • Operate battery testing equipment, environmental chambers, and data acquisition systems while analyzing test results to improve battery performance and reliability.
  • Support battery prototype builds, assembly process development, design verification, and production ramp-up.
  • Investigate field issues through root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support battery certification activities including UN38.3, IEC, ISO, AIS, and other applicable regulatory standards.
  • Participate in Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), Design Reviews, Validation Planning, and Design for Manufacturing (DFM/DFA).
  • Work closely with battery cell, BMS, enclosure, thermal component, and manufacturing suppliers throughout development.
  • Drive continuous improvement in battery performance, safety, reliability, manufacturability, and cost.

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of lithium-ion battery technologies, battery cells, and battery pack architecture.
  • Experience designing battery packs or electro-mechanical assemblies using CAD software (Autodesk Inventor preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles including sheet metal, plastics, machined components, structural assemblies, and sealing methods.
  • Good understanding of battery thermal management and heat transfer principles.
  • Familiarity with battery pack validation including electrical, mechanical, thermal, environmental, vibration, and safety testing.
  • Understanding of High Voltage DC systems and battery safety practices.
  • Working knowledge of Battery Management Systems and battery protection strategies.
  • Experience creating engineering drawings, GD&T, technical documentation, and production documentation.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and machineries such as sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining, injection molding, laser welding, ultrasonic welding, and battery pack assembly is an advantage.
  • Experience with DFMEA, DFM/DFA, tolerance stack-up analysis, and product validation methodologies is preferred.
  • Familiarity with automotive or battery standards including UN38.3, IEC 62133, ISO 26262, ISO 12405, or similar is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of battery data analysis using Excel, Python, or MATLAB is a MUST.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
  • Ideally 2+ years of professional experience or at least an internship in battery systems, EVs, or product development, or relevant project experiences.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Self-driven, hands-on, detail-oriented, and eager to solve challenging engineering problems.
