Job Summary

The Cans Mechanical Technician-2 is responsible for performing skilled mechanical maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of can manufacturing equipment and machinery to ensure optimal production efficiency and product quality.

Job Responsibilities

  • Execute preventative and corrective maintenance on can manufacturing machinery, including presses, bodymakers, trimmers, flangers, neckers, seamers, and associated conveyor systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical faults and breakdowns, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions to minimize downtime.
  • Perform adjustments, alignments, and calibrations of production equipment to maintain specified operational parameters.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to guide repair and maintenance activities.
  • Replace defective parts, components, and assemblies, including bearings, gears, shafts, belts, and pneumatic/hydraulic components.
  • Conduct regular inspections of machinery to identify potential issues and proactively address them.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance performed, parts used, and equipment status.
  • Collaborate with production operators and other technicians to optimize machine performance and resolve production challenges.
  • Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment as required.

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a mechanical technician in a manufacturing environment, preferably within the can making or packaging industry.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical principles, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing complex mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
  • Experience with precision measurement tools and techniques.
  • Solid understanding of safety protocols and procedures in an industrial setting.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Relevant technical diploma or certification in mechanical engineering, industrial maintenance, or a related field is preferred.
