DYNOTEC INC, CIVIL DESIGN ENGINEER
POSITION OVERVIEW
Dynotec Inc. is seeking a full-time Civil Design Engineer to join their team! For this position, the first 6 months would consist of supporting a short-term municipal sewer lining construction project on the west side of Columbus. Once that project completes, this person would help provide Civil 3D design assistance to various engineering divisions of the company including water resources, construction and transportation. The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working both in the field and in-office technical environments.
PHASE 1 – Construction Inspection (First 6 months)
Primary focus during initial assignment:
● Inspect municipal sewer lining construction work
● Verify contractor compliance with plans and specifications
● Observe and document field activities, quantities, and installation methods
● Track daily progress, materials, and installed quantities
● Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and project managers
● Ensure work meets safety, quality, and municipal standards
● Prepare daily inspection reports, photos, and documentation
● Support QA/QC and field verification efforts
● Attend progress and coordination meetings
PHASE 2 – Civil 3D / Design Support (Long-Term)
After inspection assignment completion (or partial overlap depending on workload), candidate may transition into:
● Civil 3D CAD drafting and plan development
● Support across Water Resources, Transportation, Construction, or Survey divisions
● As-built drawing updates and redlines
● Utility and infrastructure plan production
● Assistance with design teams on municipal infrastructure projects
● Data entry, drawing updates, and technical support
Ideal Candidate Profile
● Comfortable working in both field and office environments
● Ability to read and interpret civil engineering plans
● Proficiency with Civil 3D and CAD production
● Basic construction understanding (water/sewer preferred)
● Entry-level engineer, engineering tech, or CAD-inclined field inspector acceptable
● NASSCO certification is a plus (not required)
● Sewer lining / utility construction exposure is a plus
