CNC Programmer Jobs in Midland, TX at Aviation Search Group

Our client is building the first global cellular broadband network in space to operate directly with mobile devices and designed for both commercial and government applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate 5-axis CNC machines to manufacture complex aerospace components with tight tolerances
  • Perform complete machine setups, including tooling, fixtures, offsets, and workholding
  • Load, verify, and adjust CNC programs to ensure accuracy and efficiency
  • Monitor machining operations and make real-time adjustments to maintain quality and performance
  • Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, and work instructions
  • Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
  • Ensure all components meet aerospace tolerances and quality standards
  • Identify and document non-conforming parts in accordance with quality procedures
  • Diagnose and resolve machining issues such as tool wear, chatter, and offset discrepancies
  • Optimize feeds, speeds, and tool paths to improve efficiency and part quality
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and process enhancements
  • Conduct routine preventative maintenance (coolant checks, lubrication, cleaning)
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Adhere to all OSHA, company safety policies, and aerospace compliance standards
  • Partner with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve technical issues
  • Accurately complete job travelers, ERP entries, and production documentation
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior team members as needed

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED (technical certification preferred)
  • 2–5+ years of experience operating 5-axis CNC machines in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
  • Ability to independently perform machine setups
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and accuracy
  • Experience in aerospace or high-precision manufacturing environments preferred
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam) and G-code programming is desirable
  • Experience machining aluminum, composites, or aerospace alloys is a plus
  • Knowledge of process optimization and continuous improvement practices is desirable

Pay: $40.00 – $50.00 per hour
