Role Description This is a full-time computer-aided design engineer role (remote) that allows work from home. The CAD engineer will design and develop mechanical and materials-focused components and assemblies for additive manufacturing, using industry-standard CAD and EDA tools. Day-to-day responsibilities include creating detailed 3D models and drawings, refining physical designs for performance, manufacturability, and sustainability, and collaborating with engineers and researchers to integrate new materials and processes. The role also involves validating designs through simulation and analysis, supporting prototype builds and design reviews, and documenting design standards and best practices. The CAD Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet technical requirements, project timelines, and quality objectives.

Qualifications

  • Strong skills in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and physical design for mechanical or materials-focused components.
  • Background in mechanical engineering with experience in design for additive manufacturing or advanced materials.
  • Proficiency with EDA tools and related workflows, including familiarity with Cadence or similar platforms.
  • Ability to interpret engineering requirements, create detailed models and drawings, and apply tolerance, GD&T, and design standards.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in mechanical engineering, materials engineering, industrial design, or a related technical field.
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and communicating clearly with engineers, researchers, and project stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple design tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Interest in sustainable manufacturing, low-carbon design approaches, and innovative materials is highly beneficial.
