Role Description This full-time Construction Inspector role is an on-site position based in Fort Lauderdale, FL. The Construction Inspector will perform daily field inspections of construction sites to verify compliance with plans, specifications, codes, and safety standards. Responsibilities include documenting site conditions, preparing inspection reports, monitoring contractor activities, and coordinating with project managers, engineers, and contractors to address deficiencies or issues. The role involves observing materials and workmanship, with particular attention to pavement, asphalt, grading, drainage, and related civil infrastructure. The Construction Inspector will support quality control processes, track project progress, and help ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within scope.
Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to perform thorough Site Inspections and general Inspection activities on civil and land development projects.
  • Experience in Quality Control processes related to construction, including verification of materials, workmanship, and compliance with project specifications.
  • Knowledge of Asphalt placement and testing practices, as well as pavement construction standards and best practices.
  • Background in Construction Management, including coordination with contractors, tracking project milestones, and supporting adherence to schedules and budgets.
  • Working knowledge of civil engineering and land development practices; prior experience with municipal, commercial, or residential infrastructure projects is beneficial.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Strong attention to detail, documentation skills, and ability to prepare clear, concise field reports.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to work outdoors in varying field conditions.
  • Relevant technical training or certification in construction inspection; an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field is preferred.
