The opportunity:
Addison Homes is seeking a Construction Operations Manager to assume increasing responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the company. The Founder will remain actively involved as the technical authority, brand ambassador, relationship builder, and strategic leader. This person will make the company's operating standards consistently executable across projects, trade partners, clients, and internal systems.
This is broader than a traditional project manager role. The right person may come from custom residential construction, engineering, military operations, commercial construction, facilities, manufacturing, or another environment where complex work, vendors, schedules, quality, and people must be coordinated without excuses. Residential experience is valuable. Humility, operational judgment, verification discipline, and the ability to learn the Addison method are essential.
What will you own:
- Lead the operating rhythm across active projects, upcoming work, schedules, constraints, decisions, procurement, inspections, client commitments, and closeout.
- Coordinate and hold accountable subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, consultants, and internal resources so that work is ready, sequenced, verified, and completed correctly.
- Use ownership's existing systems, checklists, and standards as the foundation, then clarify, expand, and improve them without replacing proven methods simply to install a familiar outside playbook.
- Maintain reliable visibility into project status, job costs, allowances, purchase commitments, change orders, risks, and next actions.
- Verify work in the field rather than assuming that experience, reputation, or a completed task means the work meets Addison's requirements.
- Serve as a credible day-to-day point of contact for clients and trade partners, communicating early, documenting decisions, and resolving issues before they become larger problems.
- Protect Addison's above-code approach to building science, indoor air quality, moisture management, energy performance, durability, and long-term homeowner value.
- Create the capacity for Addison to accept appropriate new work while maintaining quality, profitability, and a healthy workload for the team.
Experience and capabilities
- Five or more years leading complex projects, field operations, construction, engineering, military operations, facilities, manufacturing, or a comparable environment.
- Demonstrated responsibility for schedules, vendors or subcontractors, budgets, quality, documentation, issue resolution, and cross-functional coordination.
- Ability to read plans, specifications, scopes, technical documentation, or comparable operating requirements and turn them into accountable action.
- Strong written and verbal communication with clients, field partners, technical professionals, and business leadership.
- Comfort working in a small company where the leader must move between the office, active jobsites, vendor conversations, client issues, and process improvement.
- Construction management, engineering, operations, business, or military leadership education is helpful. Custom or high-end residential experience is strongly valued, but is not the only path to success.
