Position Summary

The Director, Asset Management is responsible for the overall commercial, financial, and operational performance of BrightNight's operating portfolio. Acting as the business owner for assigned assets, this individual will drive value creation, optimize financial returns, manage commercial relationships, and lead cross-functional efforts to maximize asset performance throughout the lifecycle.

This role requires a strategic, entrepreneurial leader with strong commercial acumen, a bias for action, and the ability to influence decisions across operations, finance, power marketing, development, and executive leadership. We are targeting someone hybrid in our Houston office but open to remote.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own asset-level business performance, including revenue, profitability, cash flow, risk management, and long-term value creation.
  • Develop and execute asset strategies that optimize commercial outcomes, operational performance, and portfolio returns.
  • Lead management of key commercial agreements, including PPAs, tolling agreements, O&M contracts, interconnection agreements, warranties, and financing-related obligations.
  • Partner with power marketing and commercial teams to maximize market opportunities and revenue optimization strategies.
  • Oversee asset budgets, forecasts, business plans, and performance reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Drive resolution of commercial, operational, and contractual issues while maintaining strong relationships with counterparties, lenders, investors, and service providers.
  • Identify and mitigate operational, financial, regulatory, and market risks across the portfolio.
  • Support acquisitions, financing activities, asset transitions, and strategic initiatives that enhance portfolio value.
  • Collaborate across Operations, Engineering, Finance, Legal, Development, and Commercial teams to achieve business objectives.
  • Help build and scale best-in-class asset management processes, tools, and organizational capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in asset management, commercial management, power markets, infrastructure, project finance, or renewable energy.
  • Demonstrated success managing the commercial and financial performance of operating energy or infrastructure assets.
  • Strong understanding of renewable energy, energy storage, power markets, and asset valuation drivers.
  • Experience managing complex commercial agreements and external stakeholder relationships.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence decision-making in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong financial, analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
