Treehouse Hotels — the carefree, spirited hospitality brand from Starwood Hotels — is preparing to open its first Australian property, bringing a fresh and unexpected energy to the city. Inspired by nostalgia, community, music, design and a sense of fun, Treehouse Adelaide will be anything but ordinary.
We are now seeking an experienced Director of Engineering to join our pre-opening leadership team and help build the foundations of one of Adelaide's most anticipated lifestyle hotels.
This is not a role for someone who prefers to stay behind a desk.
This is an opportunity to create, build and lead an engineering operation from the ground up—setting the standards, establishing the systems, and protecting an asset that will become one of the city's most exciting new destinations.

As Director of Engineering, you'll play a pivotal role in bringing that vision to life.
What You'll Do…
- Lead all engineering operations throughout the pre-opening, opening and beyond.
- Establish preventative and planned maintenance programs that protect the long-term integrity of the hotel.
- Oversee defect identification, snagging and rectification throughout the final stages of construction and fit-out.
- Manage contractor relationships, service agreements and maintenance contracts to ensure quality, compliance and value.
- Ensure the hotel meets all statutory, life safety and compliance requirements.
- Develop engineering budgets, capital planning and asset management strategies.
- Build, mentor and lead a high-performing engineering team committed to excellence.
- Partner closely with Operations, Housekeeping, Finance and Food & Beverage to ensure the hotel operates seamlessly from both a guest and commercial perspective.
- Champion sustainability initiatives and continuously seek smarter, more efficient ways of operating.
Who You Are…
- An experienced engineering leader with a passion for building exceptional hotels.
- You're equally comfortable reviewing budgets, negotiating service contracts and analysing maintenance plans as you are walking the property, inspecting plant rooms, troubleshooting issues and rolling up your sleeves alongside your team when needed.
- You thrive in pre-opening environments where no two days are the same, bringing structure, calm and practical problem-solving to complex projects.
You'll also bring…
- Previous leadership experience within luxury or lifestyle hotels.
- Strong knowledge of building systems, plant operations, engineering compliance and preventative maintenance.
- Experience managing contractors, capital projects, defect management and hotel commissioning.
- Excellent commercial acumen with the ability to balance asset protection, operational efficiency and guest experience.
- A collaborative leadership style with a passion for developing people and building positive team cultures.
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with exceptional attention to detail.
