The Role
The Director Powerplant will be responsible for day-to-day functions associated with the technical and asset management of the engine portfolio within CDB Aviation. The candidate will assist with the growth of in-house engine management capabilities, processes and policies as directed.
Core Accountabilities:
- Provide overall engine technical support related to aircraft returns/deliveries for CDB Aviation lessees worldwide and engine asset management while on lease.
- Understanding of engine life cycle maintenance costs.
- Review of operator work scopes to ensure compliance with lease agreements and OEM work scope planning guides.
- Liaison with contracted inspection providers that engage with MROs for engine shop visits to include shop selection, work scope development, table inspections, proposed part replacement.
- Compilation and reporting of MRO and engine consultancy performance.
- Providing support to the Technical Team in overseeing lease engine acceptance and return inspections and with engine issues on aircraft deliveries and returns.
- Developing and delivering various financial reviews and analysis
- Monitoring of fleet technical issues e.g. SB/ADs or other, which may impact asset values.
- Invoice checking and maintenance reserve claim administration against contracted terms.
- Overview or review of boroscope inspections and engine ground run test results.
- Ensuring accurate engine documentation and back-to-birth trace for CDB Aviation engines.
- Co-ordinate logistics of spare engine movements.
The Person
- Degree in Aircraft Maintenance Management/Engineering or similar relevant qualification or experience in a comparable role.
- 7-10 years working in the Powerplant Department of an aircraft leasing company, airline, OEM or technical advisory firm with emphasis on asset management (powerplant) and engine portfolio management. CFM56, V2500, CFM Leap, P+W GTF and RR Trent experience an advantage.
- Thorough understanding of engine shop visit processes and airline operations.
- Affinity with process development and standardisation.
- Strong quantitative analytical skills and in-depth knowledge of engine maintenance and engineering and a clear understanding of the contractual and technical aspects of aircraft/engine leasing.
- Self-motivated, adaptable and creative team player with the ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines, plus the flexibility to undertake simultaneously a variety of duties and additional responsibilities.
- Knowledge of Leasepoint, Records repository platforms and the OEM engine portals is an advantage.
- IT savvy and systems literate.
