Position Objective:

Plan, design, optimize, and document the integrated DWDM/optical transport and IP-MPLS network for Silklink, covering optical capacity, wavelength planning, transport paths, IP/MPLS topology, routing, service enablement, capacity expansion, protection, diversity, synchronization, inventory alignment, and implementation-ready network planning deliverables.

Job Description & Responsibilities:

  • Develop integrated DWDM and IP-MPLS network plans covering backbone, metro, aggregation, edge, peering/interconnect, inter-site connectivity, optical transport, service routing, and capacity expansion.
  • Translate traffic forecasts, customer/service requirements, IP/MPLS needs, and transport availability into wavelength, channel, OTN, router, link, port, interface, routing, and service capacity plans.
  • Prepare end-to-end topology plans covering optical paths, logical IP/MPLS connectivity, wavelength allocation, MPLS-LSP/SR-MPLS/SR-TE, IP addressing, VLAN, VRF, EVPN L2/L3, E-Line/E-LAN, Transit, Peering, leased lines, service planning, QoS, and migration plans.
  • Design and validate DWDM optical paths and IP/MPLS transport connectivity, including protection schemes, diversity, latency constraints, regeneration requirements, ROADM/OADM usage, including CDC-F ROADM, transponder/muxponder capacity, power budget constraints, and service resilience.
  • Plan and validate optical spectrum usage, including ITU-T grids, Flex Grid, super channels, and related wavelength/channel utilization for IP/MPLS traffic growth and service demands.
  • Define and review multilayer protection and resiliency across DWDM, OTN, optical protection, ASON, Ethernet protection, such as G.8032/ERPS, and IP/MPLS routing redundancy.
  • Plan synchronization requirements across the DWDM transport and IP/MPLS service layers, including frequency and phase synchronization using SyncE and IEEE 1588v2/PTP.
  • Support planning and activation requirements for IP/MPLS security and service assurance, including DDoS protection activation, DPI integration, routing security, and segmentation.
  • Review existing DWDM and IP/MPLS inventory, including fiber routes, shelf/card/port capacity, wavelength utilization, router inventory, interface utilization, circuit records, configuration extracts, NMS/EMS data, monitoring data, and as-built records to validate the current state.
  • Coordinate with fiber planners, DWDM planners, IP/MPLS planners, operations, vendors, rollout, service assurance, and implementation teams to align optical transport readiness with logical IP/MPLS service and routing requirements.
  • Prepare planning outputs including wavelength allocation, trail/path records, equipment/card requirements, router/interface requirements, port assignments, circuit records, IP/MPLS service records, logical diagrams, and migration packs.
  • Support reconciliation of planned DWDM and IP/MPLS services with network inventory, circuit management systems, NMS/EMS platforms, and implementation handover documentation.
  • Identify risks related to DWDM and IP/MPLS capacity exhaustion, lack of route diversity, optical impairments, single points of failure, incompatible equipment, routing conflicts, inconsistent naming, stale records, and implementation gaps.
  • Ensure all DWDM and IP/MPLS plans follow vendor engineering guidelines, Silklink standards, naming conventions, service design rules, inventory governance, and documentation quality requirements.
  • Produce clean planning datasets, diagrams, port/interface assignments, wavelength/path records, service routing inputs, capacity reports, and implementation-ready handover packs for operations and rollout teams.
