Role Description The Electrical and Instrumentation Inspector / Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Puducherry. This role involves inspecting electrical and instrumentation installations, verifying compliance with drawings, specifications, codes, and industry standards, and documenting inspection findings. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing routine checks and tests on equipment and systems, monitoring calibration activities, and ensuring that quality control and quality assurance procedures are followed on site. The position also requires coordinating with project engineers, contractors, and clients, preparing technical reports, and supporting commissioning activities. The role calls for active participation in safety practices, problem-solving in the field, and continuous improvement of inspection and engineering processes.
Experience
- 5–10 years of experience as an Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Inspector in the oil & gas, petrochemical, or energy industry.
- Hands-on experience with metering skid systems, including custody transfer, fiscal, and allocation metering.
- Knowledge of international standards such as IEC, API, ISA, NEC, and project specifications.
- Ability to interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, loop drawings, hook-up drawings, and electrical schematics.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect the installation of electrical and instrumentation equipment on metering skid packages.
- Verify installation of flow meters, pressure transmitters, temperature transmitters, control valves, analyzers, junction boxes, cable trays, cables, and earthing systems.
- Witness instrument calibration, loop checking, functional testing, and commissioning activities.
- Review inspection reports, calibration certificates, test records, and vendor documentation for compliance.
- Ensure work complies with approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), project specifications, and client requirements.
- Identify, report, and follow up on non-conformities (NCRs) until corrective actions are completed.
- Coordinate with construction, QA/QC, commissioning teams, and client representatives during inspections.
- Prepare inspection reports and maintain quality documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor safe work practices and ensure all inspection activities comply with HSE requirements.
- Support successful project completion by ensuring the quality and integrity of metering skid installations.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess a relevant engineering degree or diploma in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or a related discipline.
Work Environment:
- 4 to 6 months Duration of work and may be extended based on work flow or requirement.
- Must be willing and able to relocate or deputize to Dubai, UAE, for on-site support, collaboration, and project delivery as per the project needs.
