Role Description This full-time remote Electrical Design Engineer role focuses on designing and developing electrical systems for EV charging infrastructure projects across residential, commercial, and enterprise environments. On a day-to-day basis, the Electrical Design Engineer will create and review electrical drawings, one-lines, and schematics, ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and safety requirements. The role involves performing load calculations, power distribution studies, and site evaluations to support optimal placement and sizing of EV charging equipment. The engineer will collaborate closely with project managers, field installers, product teams, and external partners to translate client requirements into practical, cost-effective designs. Responsibilities also include preparing technical documentation, supporting permitting and inspections, reviewing submittals, and contributing to continuous improvement of design standards and best practices within COIL’s Unified Platform.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Electrical Engineering, with applied knowledge of Electricity and power systems.
- Proficiency in Electrical Design and Design Engineering for infrastructure or building systems.
- Experience with Power Distribution design, including panel schedules, load calculations, and circuiting.
- Familiarity with relevant electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC, local AHJ requirements) and permitting processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline; advanced degree or EIT/PE licensure is a plus.
- Experience with EV charging, renewable energy, or related electrical infrastructure is highly beneficial.
- Ability to use CAD or electrical design software and collaborate effectively with remote, cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and written communication skills, with attention to accuracy and safety.
