Electrical Design Engineer – Senior Jobs in Denver, CO at Entegee
Seeking a Electrical Design Engineer to support the design and development of advanced, space-qualified power electronics hardware. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on the design, analysis, testing, and validation of high-performance power conversion systems for aerospace and spacecraft applications.
Responsibilities:
- Design and analyze high-efficiency DC/DC converters, switching regulators, and power switching circuits.
- Develop power electronics solutions utilizing GaN FETs and other advanced semiconductor technologies.
- Perform circuit analysis including worst-case, stability, thermal, and load regulation assessments.
- Create schematics using OrCAD X and collaborate with PCB layout engineers throughout the design process.
- Support component selection, including derating, reliability, and radiation-tolerant considerations for space applications.
- Conduct hardware bring-up, troubleshooting, and validation testing.
- Generate technical documentation, design analyses, and review packages for internal and customer reviews.
- Collaborate with systems, manufacturing, and test engineering teams to ensure successful product development and production readiness.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 5+ years of electronic circuit design experience.
- Experience designing analog and switched-mode power supplies (SMPS).
- Hands-on experience with:
- DC/DC Converters
- Switching Regulators
- Power Conditioning Circuits
- Load Switches
- Op-Amps and Comparators
- GaN FET Technology
- Proficiency with OrCAD X and SPICE-based simulation tools (PSpice, LTspice, etc.).
- Experience supporting PCB layout and design reviews.
- Knowledge of FPGA, microcontroller, or microprocessor-based control interfaces.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 8+ years of power electronics design experience, preferably in aerospace or space applications.
- Experience developing spacecraft Electrical Power System (EPS) hardware.
- Familiarity with Allegro X and Altium Designer.
- Knowledge of EMI/EMC design practices, grounding, shielding, and radiation effects.
- Experience performing board bring-up, hardware validation, and root cause analysis (RCCA).
- Ability to lead design efforts throughout the product lifecycle.
