Job Summary

Our client is seeking an Electronics R&D Technician to serve as a senior technical resource supporting the design, development, testing, and troubleshooting of complex electronic systems and components. This position is responsible for leading laboratory testing activities, developing innovative test methods, mentoring junior technicians, and collaborating with engineering teams to ensure products meet performance, quality, and reliability requirements. The ideal candidate has extensive experience with electronic design, test equipment, analog and digital circuits, and advanced troubleshooting techniques.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and testing of complex electronic systems and components.
  • Develop and implement advanced test procedures to evaluate product performance, reliability, and functionality.
  • Conduct research and experimentation to support new technologies and product improvements.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose complex electronic circuits and systems, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Utilize electronic design software for schematic capture, PCB layout, and simulation activities.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory test equipment, including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and other electronic instrumentation.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product development, and cross-functional teams to support project objectives.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior laboratory technicians.
  • Document testing procedures, results, and technical findings.
  • Stay current on emerging technologies, industry standards, and best practices related to electronic design and testing.
  • Support continuous process improvements within the laboratory.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in an electronics laboratory or technical environment focused on electronic design and testing.
  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics Technology, or a related technical field required.
  • Strong knowledge of analog and digital electronic circuits and components.
  • Experience using electronic design software, including schematic capture, PCB layout, and simulation tools.
  • Proficiency with laboratory test equipment, including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and related instrumentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair complex electronic systems and circuits.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to mentor junior technicians and work collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with RF testing, EMC testing, or environmental testing is preferred.
  • Knowledge of IPC standards, FCC regulations, and other electronics industry standards is preferred.
  • Experience with FPGA development using Verilog or VHDL is preferred.
  • Project leadership or project management experience is preferred.

Education

  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics Technology, or a related technical field required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Master’s degree or advanced technical certification in Electronics Engineering or a related field preferred.

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in electronic design, testing, troubleshooting, or laboratory operations required.
  • Experience leading complex electronic testing or development projects preferred.
  • Experience mentoring technical staff preferred.

Pay: Up to $33.00 per hour
