Position: Engineer for High Voltage Substations BC Hydro
Shape the future of electrical utility systems at BC Hydro as an Engineer specializing in high voltage substations. This full-time position involves engaging in planning and engineering of essential power infrastructure.
A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and a minimum of four years’ experience in the field are essential. Candidates should also be registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer in British Columbia. In this role, you will conduct planning studies, specify major substation equipment, and assist with Asset Management strategies and annual capital planning.
Key Responsibilities:
• Analyze electric system expansion studies for substations
• Specify high voltage equipment used in substations
• Write technical reports on interconnection impacts
• Collaborate with teams on system operation and project implementation
• Contribute to capital planning and resource applications
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
• At least 4 years of engineering experience
• Professional Engineer registration eligibility
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
• Knowledge of high voltage substation standards
