About the Role
Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) is seeking an Engineer – Incoming Quality Control (Inbound & Outbound) to strengthen governance, assurance, and compliance across warehouse operations.
This role plays a critical part in ensuring that all incoming materials and spare parts meet approved technical specifications, quality standards, and operational readiness requirements.
You will work closely with Warehouse Operations, Engineering & Facilities, Procurement, and Material Planning teams to safeguard inventory integrity and support uninterrupted terminal operations.
Role Objective
To provide quality governance and assurance over incoming inventory by conducting inspections, enforcing compliance with specifications and SOPs, managing non-conformance, and ensuring proper preservation and traceability of warehouse stock.
Key Responsibilities
Incoming Quality Inspection
- Perform receipt verification, quality inspection, identification, and acceptance of all incoming inventory
- Validate quantities, part numbers, and specifications against procurement and technical documents
- Conduct physical inspections to identify defects such as damage, corrosion, deformation, or contamination
- Verify nameplate details, traceability markings, and completeness prior to system release
- Ensure 100% compliance with inspection and sampling requirements
Quality Governance & Documentation
- Initiate and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for any deviations detected
- Coordinate corrective and preventive actions with suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Monitor vendor delivery quality and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure adherence to contractual requirements, quality standards, and SOPs
Preservation & Inventory Control
- Ensure all inventory and spare parts are properly preserved, stored, and handled
- Execute planned preservation activities, including 12-month preservation cycles
- Prevent deterioration, damage, or contamination of stored items
Audit & Compliance Leadership
- Act as focal point for quality matters during internal and external audits
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and PTP’s Integrated Management System
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree / Professional Degree in Engineering, Quality, Mechanical, or related fields
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in:
- Quality Engineering / Quality Assurance
- Mechanical, maintenance, or repair environments
- Warehouse, logistics, or industrial operations
