Navantia Australia has been awarded the Designer Support Contract to provide comprehensive design and engineering support to all Navantia designed ships in service with the Royal Australian Navy. This landmark contract marks a significant milestone for Navantia Australia, as it is the company’s first contract held directly with the Commonwealth of Australia (CoA), underscoring its commitment to innovation and excellence in the maritime industry.

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Change Manager to join the team out of our Darling Park, Sydney office. In the role, you will be responsible for the Project Management of Engineering Change projects planned for the allocated class vessels. The Engineering Change Manager is a member of the Program Management Office (PMO) team that provides program controls, monitoring and reporting both internally and externally. The PMO includes schedulers and program administrators.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Project management of Change Request Analyses and Developmental Activities.
  • Development of Project Plans for each engineering change project – scope definition, Work Breakdown Structure, Schedule, Resourcing, Budget and Risk
  • Management of project monitoring and control including Earned Value Management (EVM)
  • Coordination of Technical Reviews, including agenda and minutes
  • Coordination of technical data management
  • Development of Engineering Change process documentation
  • Support the Program Engineering Manager to coordinate Work and Resource Planning for Engineering Change tasks
  • Attend Configuration Control Board
  • Enterprise Stakeholder Management
  • Support Contract Reporting and Reviews
  • Support to the development and execution of the Annual Engineering Work Program and Five-Year Engineering Work program
  • Work and Resource Planning including support to ACEN Work Conference
  • Provide support and oversight to Program Reporting and Reviews of engineering activities– Contract Status Review (CSR), Cost Schedule Status Reporting (CSSR), Annual Engineering Work Reports (AEWR), Contract Performance Review, Combined Services Performance Review, Performance Assessment Review.
  • Provide support to the Resource Planning. collaboratively with ACE organisations and promote strong relationships with ACE partners.
  • Apply appropriate governance, processes and standards ensuring compliance with sound systems PMO principles.

As the ideal candidate, you will have:

  • A recognised and relevant university degree in Project Management or Engineering Management (Highly Desirable).
  • Training in project management, work planning, budgeting and Earned value Management (EVM) (Highly Desirable).
  • Minimum 5 years’ in a Project Management role.
  • Proven experience in the delivery of complex engineering programs.
  • Experience delivering Commonwealth and Australian Defence Force projects. (Desired)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • The ability to build and maintain strong relationships and networks with key stakeholders whilst working collaboratively across a diverse and complex environment.
  • Resilient, adaptable and someone who is comfortable making informed decisions and taking the initiative.
  • Ability to bring people together, build relationships and manage situations in a diplomatic and professional manner.
  • Knowledge and understanding of ASDEFCON contracts (Highly Desirable).
  • Flexible and effective when adapting to changing priorities and complexity in a time constrained environment.
  • Australian Citizenship
