Additional capabilities include project management and supervision, as well as reporting and investigation services for damaged buildings and building movement.

Role Description The Engineering Design Draftsperson – Trainee role is a full-time, on-site position based in Toowoomba. The trainee will support senior engineers and designers by assisting with the preparation of engineering and architectural drawings for civil, structural, and hydraulic projects. Day-to-day tasks include creating and updating technical drawings, using CAD software under supervision, organizing project documentation, and ensuring drawings meet relevant standards and specifications. The role also involves collaborating with project team members, responding to drawing revision requests, and learning to interpret survey data, and design guidelines. As a trainee, the successful candidate will receive guidance and mentorship to develop drafting skills and an understanding of engineering design processes.

Qualifications Applicants for this position should have recently completed Grade 12 studies and also posess:-

  • Ability to produce clear and accurate technical drawings and general drawing work.
  • Foundational skills or demonstrated aptitude in preparing engineering drawings for civil and structural projects.
  • Basic knowledge or training in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools and willingness to learn advanced features.
  • Strong attention to detail, spatial awareness, and ability to follow design standards and instructions.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in an engineering team environment.
  • Relevant vocational training or coursework in drafting, engineering, or a related field (or progress toward such qualifications).
  • Positive attitude toward learning, ability to take feedback constructively, and commitment to developing a career in engineering design.
