Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engineering / Estimating Manager to lead our construction project estimation team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in HVAC and plumbing design, construction estimating, project management, and cost control, with the ability to interpret technical drawings. This role is pivotal in ensuring accurate project bids, optimizing material and labor costs, and supporting successful project execution from inception to completion. The Estimating Manager will oversee the development of detailed estimates, coordinate with clients and subcontractors, and utilize industry-standard software tools to deliver precise and competitive proposals.

Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the construction engineering / estimating team to develop accurate project estimates.
- Review construction drawings, blueprints, and technical documents to determine material requirements and scope of work.
- Utilize estimating software such as Trimble Autobid industry tools to prepare detailed cost estimates.
- Analyze project specifications, contracts, and technical drawings to ensure a comprehensive understanding of project requirements.
- Conduct pricing analysis by sourcing quotes from suppliers and subcontractors; negotiate terms to optimize costs.
- Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring estimates align with client expectations and company standards.
- Perform quantity takeoffs from blueprints and technical drawings to determine material quantities needed for projects.
- Monitor cost management throughout the project lifecycle, implementing cost control measures as needed.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to review proposals, clarify scope changes, and ensure alignment on project objectives.
- Manage risk assessment related to cost overruns or scope changes; implement mitigation strategies proactively.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of estimates, assumptions, and methodologies for transparency and future reference.
Experience & Requirements
- Proven experience managing HVAC / plumbing design or estimating teams within commercial or industrial sectors.
- A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Construction Management, or a highly related technical field is required.
- Fluent/Bilingual English (Mandatory).
- Extensive knowledge of construction drawing review, interpretation of technical drawings, and blueprints.
- Proficiency in estimating construction project budgets with a focus on cost management and control.
- Demonstrated ability in pricing materials accurately from blueprints and managing material requirements estimation.
- Experience negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors to secure favorable terms while maintaining quality standards.
- Construction site experience is highly desirable for understanding on-the-ground realities impacting estimates.
- Excellent communication skills combined with negotiation expertise to liaise effectively across teams and stakeholders.
