ekvip automation GmbH is a software company specializing in mechanical and industrial engineering, headquartered in Leipzig with subsidiaries in the U.S. and Sarajevo.
We are currently building our Sarajevo office and are looking for an experienced Engineering Lead to help shape and grow this location. This role combines hands-on engineering, technical leadership, mentoring, and involvement in business development.
Your Responsibilities
- Build and lead two engineering teams in Sarajevo:
- TwinCAT 3 / PLC development (mechanical engineering)
- C# applications interacting with PLCs (HMI, line controllers, OPC UA, MES integration)
- Provide technical leadership and mentor engineers with deep understanding of the fundamentals in architecture
- Support the development of the Sarajevo office as a key supplier
- Contribute to business development by supporting pre-sales, defining solution architectures
- Establish and deliver internal training programs
- Support hiring and employer branding
- Collaborate closely with teams in Leipzig and the U.S., including regular travel and on-site commissioning
Your Profile
- 7+ years of experience in industrial automation (custom machine building or at plant engineering companies)
- Strong expertise in TwinCAT 3 (Beckhoff ecosystem, IEC 61131-3, EtherCAT)
- Substantial experience with C#/.NET, ideally in machine-level applications (HMI, OPC UA, messaging systems)
- Solid foundation in computer science (e.g., finite state machines, real-time systems, clean architecture)
- Hands-on commissioning experience in real-world environments
- Proven ability to lead and build engineering teams
- Strong communication skills
- Fluent in English (written and spoken)
