Engineering Manager – Gas Powered Generation

Brisbane QLD or Sydney NSW

About the Client

The client owns, operates and manages a $20 billion portfolio of energy infrastructure assets across Australia- including more than 15,000 kilometres of gas pipelines. As Australia's energy infrastructure partner, they're focused on delivering the solutions that will power the country's energy transition, from gas transmission and remote grid energy through to hydrogen and carbon capture and storage.

The opportunity

Reporting to the Head of GPG Engineering Solutions, you'll lead the engineering lifecycle across your assigned Gas Powered Generation portfolio. You'll be the technical authority across project development and delivery – driving quality, compliance and fit-for-purpose outcomes – while also mentoring and growing the engineering team around you.

What you'll be doing

  • Leading technical input through early-stage development: opportunity screening, site selection, concept definition and technology assessment
  • Providing engineering leadership from feasibility and FEED through contractor-led detailed design, construction, commissioning and operational integration
  • Leading the technical aspects of supply and construct agreements – covering design, equipment selection, construction interfaces and connection scopes
  • Managing engineering interfaces across consultants, Owners' Engineers, OEMs, vendors and contractors in complex multi-contract environments
  • Preparing and reviewing engineering documentation including specifications, datasheets, technical reports and design deliverables
  • Supporting business cases, contract negotiations, risk assessments and vendor evaluations with sound technical input

What we're looking for

  • Tertiary engineering qualification with eligibility for Engineers Australia corporate membership (or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated experience in early-stage development, design and delivery of gas-fired power generation projects — ideally in an Owners' Engineer, EPC or infrastructure delivery environment
  • Strong technical judgement with the ability to balance risk, cost, performance and schedule
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams across complex infrastructure or energy projects
  • Working knowledge of Australian and applicable international standards, and relevant EHS legislation
  • Strong stakeholder and communication skills — comfortable working across technical, operational and commercial teams
  • CPEng, RPEQ, or eligibility to obtain registration within 12 months

What the client offers

  • Targeted career development programs
  • Competitive remuneration and employee benefits
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • 18 weeks parental leave including superannuation
  • A safe, inclusive workplace with ~2,000 colleagues across Australia

Applicants must have full working rights in Australia. This role requires a Police check as part of pre-employment screening.
