Electrical Engineering Lead

We're working with a leading renewable energy developer who are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Lead to support the delivery of a growing portfolio of utility-scale renewable energy projects across Australia.
This is a key leadership role within a high-performing technical team delivering large-scale wind, solar, BESS and emerging energy infrastructure projects from development through to construction and commissioning. The business has an established pipeline nationally and is continuing to expand its owner/operator capability across the market.
The Opportunity
Reporting into senior project and engineering leadership, you will provide technical direction and oversight across complex renewable energy developments, supporting projects through feasibility, grid connection, detailed design, delivery and operational readiness.
You will work closely with internal design, development, delivery and commercial teams, while managing external consultants, OEMs, NSPs and EPC contractors to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with technical and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead electrical engineering activities across utility-scale renewable energy projects including BESS, solar and wind
- Provide technical design authority for a range of renewable projects while leading a small team
- Oversee and review engineering deliverables produced by external consultants and contractors
- Drive technical due diligence, design optimisation and constructability reviews
- Support procurement activities including OEM and EPC technical evaluations
- Ensure projects comply with Australian standards, network requirements and internal governance processes
- Mentor and support junior engineers within the wider engineering function
- Contribute to commissioning, energisation and operational handover activities
Requirements
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering
- Proven experience delivering utility-scale renewable energy, power generation, transmission or BESS projects
- Strong understanding of HV electrical systems, power systems and grid connection processes within the NEM
- Experience working within developer, OEM, consultancy, EPC or utility environments
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders across technical and commercial functions
- Strong communication and leadership capability with a collaborative working style
- RPEQ or Chartered status viewed favourably
