Job Purpose

The Engineering Manager leads Trident’s engineering and design functions across all projects, ensuring technical excellence, schedule integrity, and alignment between engineering, manufacturing, and field operations. This position combines leadership, process management, and engineering expertise to drive quality, innovation, and efficiency in the design and execution of concrete batch plants and related systems.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team of designers, engineers, and detailers.
  • Foster a collaborative culture of accountability, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee resource planning, workload balancing, and staff training to ensure timely and accurate project delivery.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and support career development pathways.
  • Champion Trident’s values of safety, quality, and innovation across all engineering functions.

Technical Oversight & Quality Assurance

  • Oversee and approve all technical deliverables including 3D models, general arrangements, PFDs, P&IDs, and equipment specifications.
  • Ensure designs meet project requirements, safety codes, and manufacturing standards.
  • Standardize and maintain design practices, templates, and documentation across the department.
  • Review designs from external engineering partners for accuracy, integration, and compliance with company standards.
  • Promote and implement digital workflows and tools (e.g., Autodesk Revit, Inventor, AutoCAD, BIM integration).
  • Perform design work and drawings as needed to meet demands and train other coworkers.

Project & Resource Management

  • Coordinate engineering support across all active projects, ensuring efficient resource utilization and schedule adherence.
  • Collaborate with Project Management, Estimating, and Manufacturing teams to translate client requirements into practical, cost-effective designs.
  • Monitor project progress, anticipate risks, and develop corrective actions as needed.
  • Conduct periodic site visits to support installation, commissioning, and quality validation.
  • Maintain organized project documentation and ensure version control for all design assets.

External Resource Oversight

  • Identify, qualify, and manage out-of-house design and engineering partners.
  • Set clear expectations for deliverables, deadlines, and quality metrics.
  • Review subcontracted work for completeness, accuracy, and system compatibility.
  • Build and maintain relationships with third-party engineering firms to expand Trident’s design capacity.

Strategic & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead initiatives to enhance engineering processes, reduce design cycle time, and improve integration with production.
  • Collaborate with leadership to evaluate new technologies, materials, and design methods that increase system performance or reduce cost.
  • Support estimating and preconstruction teams with design input and technical presentations during proposal stages.
  • Track and analyze engineering KPIs such as design accuracy, schedule performance, and rework rates.

Professional Conduct

  • Maintain timely and professional communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Represent the Engineering Department in production meetings and cross-functional reviews.
  • Uphold company reputation by complying with all regulatory, safety, and ethical standards.
  • Pursue continuing education, certifications, and professional development relevant to the role.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Structural, or Electrical preferred).
  • Minimum 4–8 years of relevant engineering experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, Inventor, and AutoCAD required.
  • Experience with BIM workflows, digital collaboration platforms, and ERP or project management systems preferred.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement principles is an advantage.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and Bluebeam; strong documentation and organization skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 – $110,000.00 per year
