Responsibilities
Manage and supervise teams of environmental technicians and specialists responsible for environmental management and monitoring on a range of infrastructure projects.
Manage all aspects of project implementation, including resourcing, budgeting, scheduling, reporting, quality management, and day-to-day client liaison.
Manage required environmental field surveys in support of project design and implementation.
Provide technical assistance for acquiring environmental permits, licenses, and approvals from regulatory agencies in support of infrastructure projects.
Provide technical assistance in the preparation of a range of environmental compliance documents required for project approval and implementation, such as EMPs, environmental protection plans, and environmental work plans.
Work with project development teams – including proponents, regulators, designers, and construction personnel – to address environmental management and protection measures during project planning and implementation.
Coordinate and participate in field activities including data collection, environmental assessments, monitoring activities and reporting.
Supporting business development opportunities, including the writing of proposals.
Education and Experience
Undergraduate degree in a relevant environmental discipline (fisheries, aquatics, ecology, environmental science/studies).
5+ years of experience managing environmental aspects of infrastructure development projects.
Relevant professional certification (e.g., BIT/RPBio, RBTech, AAg, EPt, etc.) or ability to obtain is an asset.
Experience interpreting and working with federal and provincial environmental regulatory and permitting requirements associated with infrastructure development projects.
Experience working in large, multi-disciplinary teams is essential.
Experience managing a range of environmental disciplines (air quality, noise, surface and groundwater quality, soils, vegetation, fish and fish habitat, contaminated sites.
Access to a personal vehicle to drive to client sites.
A valid Canadian driver’s license for the past three years, and the ability to meet the requirements for our third-party automobile insurance policy.
Other Assets/Skills
Enthusiastic ability to work in the field for long hours in a variety of weather conditions.
Excellent problem-solving skills to ensure project delivery and compliance through creative and adaptable solutions.
Capable of working and communicating with multi-disciplinary project teams.
Ability to obtain permits, licenses, and approvals from local, provincial, and federal authorities as well as ability to write weekly reports, EMPs, etc.
Understanding of pertinent environmental legislation, regulations, and guidance documents.
Demonstrated aptitude for project management and coordination, and excellent organization and problem-solving skills.
Ability to support business development opportunities, including writing proposals and marketing materials.
