The Mechanical Estimation Engineer supports the tendering process for fire protection projects. Key responsibilities include:
- Review tender documents, drawings, specifications, and BoQs to understand project scope and requirements.
- Perform quantity take-offs (QTO) for fire protection systems, including sprinklers, piping, and fittings.
- Identify and highlight risks, discrepancies, and missing information in tender documents.
- Support cost estimation activities by collecting material, labor, and equipment pricing data.
- Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotations and commercial information.
- Work closely with the engineering team to understand technical solutions and system designs.
- Assist in the preparation of commercial proposals, BoQs, and bid submission documents.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, company standards, Saudi Civil Defense requirements, and NFPA standards.
- Maintain and update vendor databases, material price records, and historical cost data.
- Participate in tender handover meetings and support the transition from estimation to project execution.
- Provide regular progress updates to the Senior Engineer or Line Manager and escalate issues when required.
Required Background
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 1–2 years of experience in estimation, tendering, or sales support within the construction, MEP, or fire protection industry.
- Basic knowledge of fire protection systems, including sprinkler, hydrant, fire alarm, and firefighting systems.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and Bills of Quantities (BoQs).
- Familiarity with quantity take-off (QTO) processes and estimation principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel; experience with estimation or take-off software is preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Good communication and coordination skills with internal teams, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Fluent in English; Arabic is an advantage.
