Job Description / Responsibility
1. Operation & Monitoring
- Ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of gas generator sets (Caterpillar G3512H & G3516A).
- Monitor and control critical operating parameters:
- Load (kW, kVA)
- Voltage, frequency, power factor
- Lube oil pressure & temperature
- Jacket water temperature
- Exhaust temperature (bank-wise)
- Perform load management and synchronization of multiple generator sets.
- Ensure optimum load sharing and avoid overloading/underloading.
2. Preventive & Corrective Maintenance
- Execute and supervise preventive maintenance schedules (daily, weekly, monthly, yearly) as per OEM guidelines.
- Carry out corrective maintenance and troubleshooting for mechanical, electrical, and control system issues.
- Maintain proper records of:
- Maintenance history
- Breakdown reports
- Spare parts usage
3. Fuel & Efficiency Management
- Monitor gas consumption, heat rate, and engine efficiency.
- Optimize air-fuel ratio and combustion performance.
- Analyze trends to reduce specific fuel consumption (Nm³/kWh).
- Support energy efficiency initiatives and cost optimization.
4. Control System & Protection
- Operate and maintain control systems (e.g., EMCP / PLC).
- Ensure proper functioning of protection systems:
- Over-speed
- High temperature
- Low oil pressure
- Reverse power
- Conduct routine functional checks of alarms & trips.
5. Utility Coordination
- Coordinate with electrical substation, boiler, and utility teams for load demand and power distribution.
- Ensure a stable power supply to production with minimal interruption.
6. Troubleshooting & Breakdown Handling
- Quickly diagnose faults using:
- SCADA/control panel data
- Vibration, noise, and performance trends
- Take immediate corrective action to minimize downtime.
- Coordinate with OEM/vendor for major troubleshooting support.
7. Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with plant safety standards and SOPs.
- Implement LOTO (Lockout-Tagout) during maintenance.
- Maintain safe working conditions around:
- High-temperature systems
- Gas lines
- Rotating equipment
- Support RSC / audit/compliance requirements.
8. Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare and maintain:
- Daily operation logs
- Load reports
- Fuel consumption reports
- Downtime analysis
- Submit monthly performance and efficiency reports to management.
9. Spare Parts & Inventory Management
- Monitor critical spare parts stock (filters, spark plugs, sensors, etc.).
- Raise requisitions and coordinate with SCM.
- Ensure availability of minimum critical spares to avoid downtime.
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Power Technology
- Diploma in Engineering in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Power Technology
- Skills Required: AutoCAD, PLC and Automation
Experience Requirements
- 8 to 10 year(s)
- The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s):
- Garments,Textile
Additional Requirements
- Hands-on experience with Caterpillar gas engines (G3512H / G3516A)
- Knowledge of synchronization & load sharing system
- Familiar with HT/LT electrical systems & substations
- Basic knowledge of SCADA / PLC systems
