Key Responsibilities
Electrical Systems Management
- Monitor, inspect, and evaluate the performance of the University's electrical systems, equipment, and installations to ensure reliability, safety, and operational efficiency.
- Identify electrical faults, deficiencies, or system inefficiencies and coordinate timely corrective actions.
- Conduct regular inspections of electrical distribution systems, switchgear, transformers, generators, lighting systems, UPS units, and other related infrastructure.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for electrical equipment and systems.
- Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes, regulations, safety standards, and institutional policies.
- Monitor energy consumption and recommend energy conservation measures and sustainable solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
- Stay informed about emerging technologies and best practices in electrical engineering, smart building systems, and energy management.
- Support the planning, design review, and execution of electrical upgrades, renovations, and campus expansion projects.
Facilities Management
- Oversee and coordinate facilities maintenance activities across the University campus.
- Establish work priorities, schedules, and timelines for maintenance personnel.
- Monitor the completion of work assignments and ensure adherence to quality standards, safety procedures, and operational requirements.
- Train and guide technical staff on equipment operation, maintenance procedures, workplace safety, and best practices.
- Supervise maintenance activities performed by external contractors and service providers.
- Assist in the preparation and monitoring of maintenance budgets, inventory levels, and operational expenditures.
- Respond promptly and professionally to facility-related requests and inquiries from faculty, staff, students, and visitors.
- Develop and maintain accurate records and documentation related to maintenance activities, projects, inspections, and equipment history.
- Prepare technical specifications and recommendations for the procurement of electrical and facilities-related equipment.
- Identify requirements for external consultants and contractors involved in maintenance, renovation, or construction projects.
- Support academic and administrative units by ensuring facilities are maintained to meet teaching, research, laboratory, and campus operational needs.
Reporting and Compliance
- Prepare periodic reports on electrical system performance, maintenance activities, project progress, energy consumption, and budget utilization.
- Maintain records of inspections, testing, certifications, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Participate in safety audits, accreditation processes, and quality assurance initiatives as required by the University.
