As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing high-tech semiconductor equipment while ensuring maximum uptime and customer satisfaction. This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a customer-focused mindset.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform on-site installation, maintenance, repair, and upgrades of semiconductor manufacturing equipment
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical, mechanical, and system issues
- Execute preventive maintenance and respond to emergency service calls
- Coordinate with customers and internal teams to minimize downtime
- Maintain accurate service records, reports, and documentation
- Order, install, and replace parts as required
- Support Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) with flexibility and composure
- Train customer technicians on equipment operation and maintenance
- Follow safety protocols and ensure compliance with cleanroom standards
- Build strong relationships with customers through clear communication and professionalism
Qualifications
- Business level Japanese(JLPT N3+) and English (TOEIC 700+)
- 4+ years experience in Field Service Engineer related roles.
- Basic understanding of the semiconductor industry
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, mechanical diagrams, and electrical schematics
- Knowledge of gases and cleanroom environments (preferred)
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to follow technical instructions in English with high accuracy
- Team-oriented mindset with excellent collaboration and communication skills
- Commitment to safety, quality, and confidentiality
Preferred Experience
- Experience with semiconductor equipment or sub fab systems
- Field engineer, maintenance, or operational experience with: Machining centers or CNC equipment, Industrial robots (FANUC, YASKAWA, KAWASAKI, ABB, etc.), Medical equipment such as CT or MRI systems, HVAC, chillers, or air conditioning systems, Aviation or other high reliability industries
