Job Summary

A Fire Protection Project Manager oversees all aspects of fire protection projects — from field supervision and manpower coordination to budgeting, scheduling, and compliance. This role requires hands-on leadership and a deep understanding of NFPA 13 and NFPA 14 standards, ensuring every project is executed with precision and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

1. Field & Manpower Supervision

  • Lead and supervise all on-site construction activities.
  • Ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, and all safety regulations.
  • Coordinate and manage field personnel, subcontractors, and trades for optimal productivity.
  • Conduct regular site visits to assess progress, quality, and adherence to standards.

2. Project Management

  • Create and maintain project schedules to ensure timely delivery.
  • Develop, track, and control project budgets and cost reports.
  • Manage change orders, including documentation, pricing, and negotiation with clients or subcontractors.
  • Oversee billing, prepare invoices, and follow up to ensure timely payments.

3. Compliance & Standards

  • Ensure all systems meet NFPA 13 and NFPA 14 requirements, as well as local NYC codes.
  • Stay up to date with evolving fire protection regulations, standards, and technologies.
  • Promote safety and compliance across all project phases.

4. Communication & Documentation

  • Serve as the primary liaison for clients, architects, engineers, and other project stakeholders.
  • Provide regular project reports, including progress updates, budget status, and issue tracking.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including meeting minutes, inspections, and change logs.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in construction project management, specifically within fire protection systems.
  • Strong understanding of NFPA 13 and NFPA 14 standards and NYC Fire Code requirements.
  • Proven leadership skills in managing field teams and subcontractors.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to oversee multiple projects.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred, but not required.
  • Certifications such as NICET, PMP, or equivalent, preferred.
