Position: Contract IOC Operator
Well Optimization Specialist (Contract) – Grande Prairie, AB
Location:
Grande Prairie, Alberta
Schedule:
4 days on / 3 days off (10-hour shifts)
We are currently looking for an experienced Well Optimization Specialist to support ongoing operations in the Grande Prairie area. This is a hands-on role focused on well performance, artificial lift optimization, and real-time data analysis within a collaborative field and engineering environment.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and optimize well performance using real-time data and surveillance tools
- Support artificial lift systems including plunger lift, rod pump, and gas lift through troubleshooting, cycle optimization, and setpoint adjustments
- Identify underperforming wells and recommend practical optimization solutions
- Work closely with field operations and engineering teams to implement improvements and new artificial lift installations
- Analyze data from multiple sources to identify trends, issues, and opportunities
- Troubleshoot SCADA systems and related communication tools such as Cygnet, XSPOC, and ROIP
- Maintain accurate logs of activities, issues, and optimization efforts
- Participate in well reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- Share knowledge with team members and provide support where needed
Qualifications
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
- Minimum high school diploma
- At least 5 years of experience in oil and gas operations or well optimization
- Strong working knowledge of SCADA systems and well monitoring tools (Cygnet, XSPOC, Wellview)
- Solid understanding of artificial lift systems and field operations
- Experience with data analysis and root cause troubleshooting
- Comfortable working with Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Teams)
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team
