Responsibilities

Eaton’s Enterprise CoE located in Pune, India, has an opening for an Associate Engineer in the Centre for Reliability & Safety team within the Eaton India Innovation Center. This role is established for the Vehicle business of Eaton in the Reliability group. The core responsibilities of this position are following:

  • Perform DVT and EVT testing for power electronics projects and prepare detailed technical reports.
  • Understand product requirements and develop complete test plans.
  • Build safe, reliable, and compliant test setups for high‑power systems, including wiring, sensors, instruments, grounding, interlocks, and emergency shutdown paths.
  • Select and configure appropriate test equipment such as power sources, electronic loads, analyzers, and safety tools.
  • Define test conditions, operating limits, and safety precautions, ensuring all instruments are calibrated and accurate.
  • Capture and document data accurately, including time stamps, test conditions, and logged measurements.
  • Analyse test results, identify abnormalities or root causes, and prepare clear reports for design, validation, and customer teams.
  • Follow strict electrical safety practices for high‑voltage and high‑power testing, including PPE usage, insulated tools, and lockout‑tagout procedures, while adhering to relevant standards (CE, UL, IEC).
  • Maintain power electronics lab discipline, ensure equipment readiness, and manage calibration, documentation, and resource booking.
  • Support training of new team members in safe lab practices and equipment handling.
  • Collaborate with design, validation, manufacturing, and quality teams, supporting test reviews, audits, and customer witness sessions.
  • Communicate risks, delays, and resource needs in a timely and transparent manner

Requirements

  • Should have an understanding and basic domain knowledge of power electronics testing for AC‑DC and DC‑DC converters, including DVT and EVT.
  • Should have an understanding of converting product requirements into structured test plans for validation.
  • Should have experience in preparing safe high‑power test setups with proper wiring, grounding, and interlocks.
  • Should have an understanding of selecting and operating test equipment such as power sources, loads, and analyzers.
  • Should have knowledge of defining safe test limits and operating conditions for high‑power systems.
  • Should have an understanding of accurate measurement and data logging using calibrated instruments.
  • Should have experience in analysing test data and identifying failures or abnormalities.
  • Should have an understanding of preparing clear and concise test reports for engineering and customer teams.
  • Should have experience in electrical safety practices, including PPE usage and lockout‑tagout procedures.
  • Should have knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements such as CE, UL, and IEC standards.
  • Should have experience in maintaining lab discipline and ensuring equipment readiness and calibration.
  • Should have an understanding of managing equipment bookings and maintaining proper documentation.
  • Should have an understanding of coordinating with cross‑functional teams for smooth test execution.
  • Should have an understanding of communicating risks, issues, and delays clearly and on time.
  • Should have experience in guiding and training new team members in safe lab practices.

Qualifications

Required: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics, with 2-4 years of experience in power electronics product testing

Skills

  • Strong technical knowledge of AC‑DC and DC‑DC converter topologies and their validation requirements.
  • Hands‑on experience with high‑power test setups, including power sources, electronic loads, analysers, and measurement instruments.
  • Good understanding of test methods, measurement techniques, data analysis, and report preparation.
  • Working knowledge of electrical safety practices, PPE, lockout‑tagout, and handling high‑voltage/high‑power systems.
  • Familiarity with compliance standards such as CE, UL, and IEC, and ability to apply them during testing and documentation.
