We are currently sourcing several Asset Management Engineers to join our Kuala Lumpur Office and become part of an Oil & Gas Asset Management delivery team. This is a full-time role for an Asset Management Engineer. The role is hybrid, based in WP. Kuala Lumpur. Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate an understanding of statutory compliance, engineering safety requirements and asset integrity principles applicable to hazardous or industrial facilities.
  • Support and participate in engineering risk and safety studies such as HAZID, HAZOP and other structured risk assessment activities.
  • Apply recognised asset management, maintenance and reliability engineering techniques, tools and methodologies, including but not limited to FMECA, RCM, RAM, criticality assessment and risk-based maintenance approaches.
  • Develop, review and implement maintenance strategies, procedures, task lists and maintenance plans to improve asset reliability, availability, safety and operational performance.
  • Ensure maintenance requirements appropriately consider manpower, tools, materials, spare parts, shutdown requirements and other execution needs.
  • Identify and quantify opportunities to reduce lifecycle cost, improve productivity, enhance asset performance and better manage operational and technical risks.
  • Analyse engineering, maintenance, reliability and asset data to support technical recommendations and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Undertake technical and quality reviews of work completed by engineers, analysts and other project team members, where appropriate to the level of seniority.
  • Support the development, validation and maintenance of accurate asset, maintenance and engineering master data within enterprise asset management or computerized maintenance management systems.
  • Maintain consistency and compliance with applicable industry standards, project requirements, data governance rules, naming conventions and organisational procedures.
  • Analyse, validate, prioritise and execute requests for data updates, bulk changes and data improvement activities.
  • Support the development and enhancement of master data governance frameworks, standard operating procedures, work processes and enterprise data standards.
  • Understand client business requirements, operational workflows and maintenance processes, and translate them into practical engineering, digital or system-based solutions.
  • Support the implementation, enhancement and continuous improvement of maintenance, reliability, asset management and engineering information systems.
  • Coordinate with clients, project teams, vendors and other stakeholders to ensure technical requirements, deliverables, schedules and project objectives are achieved.
  • Contribute to project planning, progress monitoring, resource coordination, risk management and reporting activities.
  • Lead defined work scopes, technical workstreams or small project teams, where appropriate to experience level.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and analysts, particularly for Mid-Level and Senior positions.
  • Support business improvement initiatives, lessons learned and the development of consistent engineering practices across projects.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree or recognised qualification in any engineering discipline. Candidates from Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Chemical, Process, Civil, Marine, Industrial or other relevant engineering backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of relevant experience in maintenance, reliability, asset management, engineering data, operations, projects or related technical fields. Fresh graduates with strong relevant exposure may also be considered for Junior positions.
  • Experience in the Oil & Gas, energy, petrochemical, utilities, manufacturing, infrastructure, marine or other asset-intensive industries is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with the operation and maintenance of plant equipment, machinery, systems or industrial facilities is an advantage.
  • Exposure to maintenance strategy development, reliability engineering, asset integrity, risk assessment or engineering data management is desirable.
  • Understanding of spare parts and materials management, including critical spares identification and inventory optimisation, would be advantageous.
  • Experience with enterprise asset management, computerized maintenance management, engineering information or other business systems is preferred.
  • Strong computer literacy, particularly in spreadsheet, data analysis and general office productivity tools.
  • Ability to analyse technical information, identify inconsistencies and produce clear, structured recommendations.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to technical accuracy and quality.
  • Sound time management, organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable and able to work effectively in a consulting and project-driven environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate work, manage priorities and deliver assignments within agreed schedules.
  • Leadership, mentoring, team coordination or project management experience is highly regarded for Mid-Level and Senior positions.
  • Ability to guide others, review technical work and take ownership of project deliverables is expected for more senior applicants.

Level Expectations

Junior Engineer

  • Supports technical analysis, data development and project delivery activities under guidance.
  • Demonstrates strong learning ability, attention to detail and willingness to develop across asset management and reliability disciplines.

Mid-Level Engineer

  • Independently delivers defined technical scopes, coordinates activities and performs quality reviews.
  • Supports client engagement, workstream leadership and mentoring of junior team members.

Senior Engineer

  • Leads technical scopes, multidisciplinary workstreams and project delivery activities.
  • Provides technical assurance, client-facing leadership, mentoring and project coordination.
  • Supports project planning, resource management, quality control, risk management and continuous improvement.
