Role Description The Junior Site Structural Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Kampala. This role involves supporting senior engineers in structural design, assisting with site inspections, and performing routine structural and civil engineering calculations. The Junior Site Structural Engineer will help review construction drawings, contribute to structural analysis, and coordinate with project managers, architects, and contractors to ensure compliance with design specifications and safety standards. The role also includes preparing technical reports, updating documentation, and using computer-aided design (CAD) tools to assist in developing and revising structural plans. The individual will participate in site meetings, monitor construction progress, and support quality control processes to ensure that projects are delivered on time and in line with VAAL’s quality expectations.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Structural Engineering and Civil Engineering, with the ability to apply engineering principles to site and structural work.
- Proficiency in structural analysis and engineering calculations to support design validation and on-site decision-making.
- Experience or training in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for preparing and modifying structural drawings and plans.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Knowledge of relevant building codes, safety regulations, and construction standards.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and willingness to learn from senior engineers on site.
- Previous internship or entry-level experience in construction or real estate development is an advantage.
