About the Role
Gatron (Industries) Limited is looking for a Maintenance Engineer – Poly & SSP to support mechanical maintenance execution, plant reliability, and machine availability within the Poly & SSP section.
The role is responsible for managing, executing, and monitoring mechanical maintenance activities to ensure smooth plant operations, timely breakdown resolution, preventive maintenance compliance, and machine downtime control within defined limits.
This position is best suited for a hands-on maintenance professional with strong plant exposure, sound mechanical troubleshooting capability, and experience in managing maintenance execution in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute mechanical maintenance activities across the Poly & SSP section.
- Conduct regular plant visits to identify mechanical issues, abnormalities, and improvement areas.
- Ensure timely execution of job orders as per approved procedures and plant safety requirements.
- Monitor equipment performance and support breakdown/shutdown activities within the required timelines.
- Prepare and maintain maintenance reports, breakdown reports, inspection reports, job schedules, activity reports, and lubricant stock reports.
- Create notifications, maintenance orders, and refurbishment orders for identified abnormalities and required corrective actions.
- Maintain technical details in maintenance orders, including material, service, and spare parts requirements.
- Coordinate with production teams to support cost-effective and reliable manufacturing operations.
- Delegate work to associates and ensure timely task completion in line with HSE policies.
- Recommend replacement of old, faulty, or inefficient mechanical components.
- Support material/service planning, procurement coordination, and service entry confirmation.
- Initiate and support calibration order processes, measuring documents, and related maintenance planning.
- Ensure permit-to-work and WCM requirements are followed where applicable.
- Inspect spare parts and materials, verify documentation where required, and record defects or out-of-specification items.
Key Success Measures
- Preventive maintenance plans scheduled vs. executed.
- Breakdown and shutdown jobs completed within stipulated timelines.
- Reduction in machine downtime.
- Timely execution of maintenance orders and job plans.
- Compliance with HSE and plant maintenance procedures.
- Quality and accuracy of maintenance documentation/reporting.
Required Qualification & Experience
- Relevant technical/vocational qualification in Mechanical Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in a continuous process or manufacturing plant environment.
- Strong exposure to preventive maintenance, breakdown maintenance, shutdown planning, and mechanical troubleshooting.
- Experience in handling maintenance documentation, job orders, spares planning, and plant maintenance systems.
- Ability to supervise associates and coordinate effectively with production and maintenance teams.
- Strong understanding of safety practices, permit-to-work requirements, and HSE compliance in plant operations.
