Fatima Group is looking to hire a seasoned petroleum engineer to fill the role of Manager Reservoir & Production Engineering in its newly set-up Upstream E&P Petroleum business, Fatima Petroleum Company Limited (FPCL), based in Islamabad, Pakistan.

What you will do:

Subsurface Petroleum Engineering experts and managers are central to the oil & gas exploration and production. While Geoscientists generate prospects, the Reservoir Engineers and Production Engineers (RE / PE) generate models of reserves & production profiles likely to be produced by the wells drilled on these prospects. Manager Reservoir & Production Engineering is responsible for commissioning Reservoir Engineering and Production Engineering workstreams in Fatima Petroleum, including the reservoir & production engineering processes, workflows, databases and Applications. She/he will assess and plan, deploy and lead the evaluations and operational activities in these areas for the new ventures (Farm-ins, bid rounds and M&A), exploration & field development, resource & reserves assessment, reserves progression & booking, reservoir management, production sustainability & enhancement, and financial & economic models for field lifecycle economics and commercialization.

Key Accountabilities:

Technical Skills

  1. QC, editing, loading and assuring the integrity of reservoir, Testing & production data including cores’ SCAL, PVT data, MDTs, PSPs, DSTs, BHP surveys, and more, and their lifecycle progression & maintaining in the Database & Apps platforms.
  2. Develop reservoir depletion strategies and integrated field development plans (FDP). Develop Scope/ TOR and commission studies to identify and manage risks and execute plans for reservoir management, reserves progression per PRMS and production sustainability.
  3. Dynamic simulation & integrated asset modelling to develop optimal and cost effective FDPs. Reserves assessment and book keeping as per PRMS guidelines.
  4. Production prediction models and production profiles with Capex/Opex profiles. Monitoring production performance and identify opportunities of enhancing or sustaining production.
  5. Activities planning and budgets for annual business plan and long-term plans (LTP). Execution of activity as per best practices to high HSE standards / KPIs.
  6. Participate in TCM/OCM, necessary preparations and participation in Workshops & TCM/ OCM to present effective and economic case and safeguard Sponsors’ interest.
  7. Cutting technology & Workflows’ grasp, strategy, reassess/ re-directs. Database & Applications knowledge – from deploy to maintain/ use, for delivering LLM, ML, GenAI Digital ecosystem

Planning, budgeting, commissioning:

  1. Proposals with plans / budgets and Commissioning of reservoir & production engineering databases, review of various reservoir data & their purchasing proposals, and maintenance of data as per digital ecosystem and Data & Apps Platform Vision & Model of FPCL.
  2. Plan or coordinate with operators to plan / review RE & PE activities and studies. Assign budgets to these activities and their monitoring through the project lifecycle. Prepare and assure the Archiving plan & systems for the interpreted data & results in FPCL systems.

Reservoir & Production models and input to FDP, production well opportunities and FID:

  1. Identify, access, maintain cores & log based phi-k, SCAL and PVT data, MDT, PSP, BHP surveys & Well Testing data in FPCL databases and LLMs,
  2. Develop analytical models, perform uncertainty assessment and sensitivity analyses for new and producing assets to formulate development strategies and reservoir exploitation & depletion strategies. Collaborate with other functions for alignment of development and exploitation plans.
  3. Prepare annual surveillance plans (BHP, Build Up, PSP and RST survey) for cost-effective optimized reservoir management,
  4. Development of production enhancement plan by improving the production capacity of existing producers as well as exploiting the infill wells opportunities
  5. Development of Static & dynamic simulation models for reservoir management, reserves progression and drilling/ production opportunities. Update of databases and LLMs
  6. Production forecasts and inputs to the economics for Decision Stage Gates, AFE support, business cases and FID
  7. Monitor field performance against model predictions and update models accordingly

New Ventures & BD: Inputs to Exploration & production opportunities

  1. Provide subsurface and production engineering inputs for evaluating the exploration, development and production opportunities as part of the New Ventures opportunity screening and Due Diligence process including data rooms,
  2. Assessments include resource & reserves evaluation, production forecasting, Capex/Opex profiles, and Development Concept’s reviews and company’s own assessments,
  3. Participate in assessment of geological, geophysical, reservoir and engineering data and probability of technical & commercial success (risk) before and during the stage gate peer review process in collaboration with the other discipline experts,
  4. Develop preliminary production profiles and high-level development plans for quick-hit farm-in, M&A and bid round opportunities

Data Management and Processes & Guidelines

  1. Work with IT Specialist to develop and implement Cloud-based computing models and OSDU consistent data sets. Smooth consumption of technical databases & applications generated data thru LLM and Gen-AI,
  2. Work with ITBP to prepare and deploy DAMA-DMBOK framework & best practices guidelines while ensuring data sanitization, data standards, structured and linked master data repositories and integrated database & Apps platforms.
  3. QC and monitoring of quality interpretation data inputs to the master databases / archives while avoiding waste and redundancy following Lean Six Sigma principles

Production Engineering

  1. Monitor daily production performance and analyze well/asset data.
  2. Identify production optimization opportunities and recommend improvement strategies
  3. Conduct production allocation and reconciliation activities
  4. Develop and update production surveillance dashboards and KPIs

Education, Knowledge and Experience

Qualification: BS/MS (4 yrs degree & education) in Petroleum Engineering. Prefer higher degree MS/PhD from a Western or Chinese university.

Experience: 15-20 yrs in reservoir engineering classical activities, reservoir simulation, reserves evaluation and maintenance as per PRMS practices & process, field development plans, forecasting of production and Capex/ Opex involved using industry leading-edge tools & software with in-depth understanding & practice of doing the same using Excel, Python algorithms and Analytical methods.
