Role Overview
The Managing Director will lead the Malaysia business with full responsibility for commercial performance, operational direction, people leadership, and sustainable growth. This role requires a hands-on business leader who can strengthen market presence, drive sales execution, improve service excellence, and align local operations with regional and global business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the overall Malaysia business, including sales, service, operations, finance, people management, and customer engagement.
- Own the country-level business performance, including revenue growth, profitability, cost control, cashflow discipline, and long-term business sustainability.
- Develop and execute commercial strategies to expand market share across factory, manufacturing, and industrial customer segments.
- Build strong relationships with key customers, channel partners, distributors, OEMs, system integrators, and strategic accounts.
- Drive sales pipeline development, account planning, pricing discipline, tender negotiation, and contract management.
- Strengthen service delivery, aftermarket support, preventive maintenance, spare parts readiness, and customer satisfaction.
- Work closely with regional and European headquarters to align local business plans, reporting, compliance, product direction, and performance expectations.
- Lead, coach, and develop local teams across sales, service, technical, operations, and support functions.
- Identify new business opportunities across manufacturing plants, industrial facilities, process industries, and factory automation-related environments.
- Improve internal processes, operational efficiency, cross-functional coordination, and customer response time.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, local regulations, safety standards, business ethics, and corporate governance requirements.
- Represent the company professionally in the Malaysian market and act as the key country leader for customers, partners, employees, and regional stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Industrial Management, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 15 years of working experience, with strong exposure to industrial equipment, machinery, engineering solutions, automation, factory equipment, or manufacturing-related industries.
- Proven leadership experience in country management, general management, commercial leadership, or senior sales and operations leadership.
- Strong business acumen with experience managing revenue, profitability, budgets, pricing, and business growth.
- Solid understanding of B2B industrial sales, key account management, distributor/channel management, and service-driven business models.
- Experience dealing with manufacturing customers, factory operators, plant managers, engineering teams, procurement teams, and senior decision-makers.
- Ability to lead both commercial and operational teams in a lean, hands-on business environment.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with experience reporting to regional or overseas headquarters.
- Strategic yet practical leadership style, with the ability to drive execution and solve business issues directly.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, leadership, and people management skills.
