A construction management boutique is seeking to appoint a senior leader to establish and grow a new technical advisory and construction defect practice within their existing construction consulting business.
The firm is well established across scheduling, project controls, cost management, construction management, claims, and dispute resolution, supporting clients on complex construction and infrastructure projects throughout North America. While the business regularly encounters opportunities involving construction defects, technical engineering investigations, failure analysis, and related expert services, they are now looking to bring in a dedicated leader to build out this capability.
Technical Services Lead
This is a rare opportunity for an experienced technical consultant, forensic engineer, or construction defects specialist to build and lead a new division within an established and highly respected consultancy platform.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape the direction of the practice, lead complex technical investigations, support litigation and insurance-related matters, and play a key role in the long-term growth strategy of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and expansion of the firm’s technical services and construction defect advisory practice
- Manage and perform technical investigations involving building failures, water intrusion, structural deficiencies, envelope issues, MEP failures, and other construction-related defects
- Conduct root cause analysis, site inspections, document reviews, and remediation assessments
- Support litigation, arbitration, mediation, and insurance claims through technical analysis and expert support
- Prepare technical reports and findings for clients, legal teams, insurers, and other stakeholders
- Work collaboratively with the firm’s established scheduling, claims, project controls, and cost advisory teams on multidisciplinary assignments
- Assist in developing client relationships across law firms, insurers, owners, contractors, and developers
- Help define the long-term strategy, structure, and growth plan for the division
- Support future hiring and mentoring efforts as the practice expands
Candidate Profile
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architecture, Construction Engineering, or related discipline
- Professional Engineering license (P.E.) preferred
- 10+ years of experience within forensic engineering, construction defects, building envelope consulting, technical investigations, or related consulting environments
- Experience supporting disputes, litigation, expert witness assignments, or insurance matters is highly desirable
- Strong report writing, analytical, and client-facing communication skills
- Commercially minded with an interest in helping grow and develop a service line
- Ability to operate independently while collaborating across multidisciplinary teams
