Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Manufacturing Quality Engineer in Chicago, IL (Rogers Park neighborhood). This is a fully onsite, permanent role supporting a global manufacturer of electrical power equipment and critical infrastructure solutions.
We are hiring two Quality Engineers for this team—one focused on assembly operations and one focused on fabrication processes such as metal forming and machining.
This role is highly hands-on and floor-focused. Successful candidates must enjoy spending significant time in the manufacturing environment supporting production teams, investigating issues, and driving improvements.
Schedule
Monday – Friday
8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Onsite)
Compensation
Base salary range: $95,000 – $125,000, depending on experience.
Additional benefits include:
• 10% annual bonus opportunity
• KSOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) — employees contribute 7% and the company contributes 3.5%, beginning after 90 days

Position Overview
The Manufacturing Quality Engineer is responsible for supporting quality systems and driving problem-solving initiatives within a heavy manufacturing environment. This role works closely with production, engineering, and operations teams to improve manufacturing quality, resolve production issues, and ensure compliance with established quality management systems.
This position requires a hands-on engineer who is comfortable working on the shop floor, interacting with operators, reviewing processes, and leading root cause investigations.
Key Responsibilities
• Spend significant time on the manufacturing floor supporting production and resolving quality issues
• Develop and maintain control plans for manufacturing processes
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions using structured problem-solving methods such as:
- 5 Whys
- 3×5 Why analysis
- Ishikawa (Fishbone) diagrams
• Support and maintain DFMEA and PFMEA activities
• Ensure compliance with quality management systems and manufacturing quality standards
• Partner with production and engineering teams to investigate defects, scrap, and rework
• Assist in defining and improving inspection methods and metal part inspection requirements
• Support implementation and monitoring of Statistical Process Control (SPC) where appropriate
• Develop and maintain work instructions and process documentation
• Lead problem-solving efforts related to fabrication, machining, welding, and assembly processes
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve product quality and manufacturing performance
• Communicate findings, corrective actions, and improvements clearly to production teams and leadership
• Provide technical guidance to operators and manufacturing personnel during quality investigations
Qualifications
Required
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline
• 7–10 years of experience in a manufacturing quality engineering role
• Experience in heavy manufacturing environments such as:
- Industrial machinery
- Automotive manufacturing
- Electrical equipment manufacturing
- Similar high-volume or metal-based manufacturing environments
• Experience supporting fabrication or assembly manufacturing processes, including:
- Metal forming
- Machining
- Welding
- Mechanical assembly
• Strong experience with Control Plans, DFMEA, and PFMEA
• Experience performing structured root cause analysis and problem solving
• Understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC)
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• High attention to detail and ability to work effectively with production teams
• Ability to operate independently with minimal coaching and drive quality initiatives
Preferred
• Experience in industries such as:
- Electrical equipment
- Power distribution equipment
- Automotive manufacturing
- Heavy industrial manufacturing
• Experience with companies similar to Siemens, Eaton, or other industrial manufacturers
Work Environment
This role operates in both office and manufacturing environments.
Candidates must be comfortable working around:
• Industrial machinery
• Welding and fabrication processes
• Manufacturing equipment
• Noise and production activity
A significant portion of time will be spent on the production floor supporting manufacturing operations.
