Role Description The Mechanical Design Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Phnom Penh. This role is responsible for designing and developing mechanical components and assemblies for custom metal fabrication projects, from initial concept through to production-ready designs. Day-to-day tasks include creating detailed 3D models and drawings in CAD software, performing design calculations, and collaborating with manufacturing and quality teams to ensure feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with standards. The Mechanical Design Engineer will review customer specifications, propose design improvements, and support prototyping and testing activities. The role also involves troubleshooting design issues, maintaining accurate documentation, and contributing to continuous improvement of design and production processes.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering and Design Engineering, with the ability to apply engineering principles to practical manufacturing solutions.
  • Hands-on experience in Machine Design and Product Design, including the development of components and assemblies for metal fabrication or related industries.
  • Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for 3D modeling and 2D drafting, and experience creating detailed drawings and documentation for production.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, forming, welding), and basic tolerance and GD&T principles.
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications, communicate clearly with cross-functional teams, and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in metal fabrication, custom manufacturing, or industrial product development is an asset.
