Position summary:

We are seeking a motivated Mechanical Designer with 0–5 years of mechanical/HVAC design experience to join our MEP consulting team. The successful candidate will support project engineers and senior designers by producing CAD/Revit drawings, preparing calculations and schedules, assisting in coordination with other disciplines, and supporting construction administration tasks.

Key responsibilities:

  • Produce and revise Mechanical drawings, details, and construction document sets in AutoCAD and Revit; follow office standards and layer/naming conventions.
  • Translate engineering concepts and sketches into accurate 2D drawings and 3D models for HVAC, ductwork, piping, and mechanical equipment.
  • Perform basic load calculations, equipment selections, and prepare equipment schedules and specifications under supervision.
  • Coordinate mechanical systems with architectural, structural, electrical, and plumbing disciplines; resolve clashes and participate in BIM coordination sessions.
  • Prepare as-built drawings and redlines from field notes; assist with site visits and field measurements.
  • Respond to RFIs and assist with review of submittals and vendor data.
  • Maintain drawing file organization, version control, and project documentation, support project managers in meeting deadlines and deliverables.

Required qualifications:

  • 0–5 years of relevant experience in Mechanical or MEP design, drafting, or related role.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit MEP is required.
  • Familiarity with HVAC fundamentals, duct sizing, piping schematics, and mechanical equipment (AHUs, RTUs, pumps, heat exchangers).
  • Strong technical drafting skills and attention to detail.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills; ability to work in a team and follow direction from engineers/senior staff.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Associate of Applied Science (AA) in Engineering Graphics, Engineering Design Technology, or related program
  • Experience with load calculation software (e.g., Trane Trace, Carrier HAP) or duct/piping sizing tools.
  • Basic knowledge of local building codes, mechanical codes (IMC), and energy code requirements.
  • Prior exposure to construction administration, site visits, or shop drawing review.
  • Familiarity with BIM coordination tools (Navisworks, Bluebeam) and Microsoft Office suite.
