Staff Mechanical Engineer – Pipeline & Facilities (Kansas City)
The Staff Mechanical Engineer will work with the project team to create world-class designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments on a variety of natural gas facilities, including compressor stations, meter and regulator stations, and renewable natural gas facilities. The Staff Mechanical Engineer will work with the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting mechanical plans according to budget constraints, design factors, or client need
- Execution of mechanical engineering design and analysis for natural gas facilities and pipeline-related project
- Mechanical design of stations and facilities including piping systems and material specification
- Preparation of calculations, studies, and technical reports including pipe stress, pressure relief, and equipment sizin
- Development of P&IDs, piping plans, isometrics, equipment layouts, and associated bill of material
- Selection and specification of mechanical equipment including compressors, regulators, valves, meters, and relief device
- Coordination with other disciplines (Pipeline, Civil/Structural, Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls, Environmental
Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program and 3 years of mechanical engineering experience required. Consulting preferred. Or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program, successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, and 3 years of mechanical engineering experience required. Consulting preferred. Or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and 2 years of mechanical engineering experience required. Consulting preferred
- Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards, such as ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, API 520/521, and 49 CFR Part 192, is preferred
- Experience with mechanical design software and engineering too
- Strong knowledge of standard engineering techniques and procedures
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills
- Proficient in standard engineering techniques and procedures
- Strong computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong computer skills include AutoCAD, BIM (Revit), 3D Rendering Programs, hydraulic analysis, and HVAC analysis program
- Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills
Engineers in Training-EIT Certification preferred
