The Company
Our client is a well-established, privately owned engineering business that designs and manufactures large-scale capital equipment for industrial customers across multiple international markets. They operate a hands-on, design-for-manufacture environment with engineering working closely alongside an on-site workshop. The Role
As Senior Project Engineer, you will own the technical delivery of projects from initial sales handover through design coordination, manufacture, shipping, installation and commissioning. You will act as the key technical interface between international customers and the internal design team, translating often ambiguous customer requirements into clear specifications and manufacturable designs.
Responsibilities include:
- Sizing and selection of mechanical components including shafts, bearings and drive systems
- Specification of process equipment and fluid handling systems, including pumps and valves
- Specification of purchased components such as sensors and switches
- Overseeing 3D modelling in Inventor and 2D drafting in AutoCAD for equipment and layout drawings
- Monitoring design and drawing release schedules to keep projects on track
- Supporting fabrication through to installation and commissioning, including occasional domestic and international travel for site reviews and customer meetings
What You Bring
- Mechanical Engineering degree
- 15+ years experience in a project engineering capacity within an OEM, design house or engineering consultancy, not purely client-side maintenance or reliability
- Genuine hands-on design background using Inventor and AutoCAD, including design calculation experience
- Strong communication skills, comfortable working with international customers including across language barriers
- A practical, solutions-focused mindset and comfort working closely with a manufacturing workshop
