Our client is a leading global automotive Tier 1 supplier specializing in interior, exterior trim systems, and seating components, serving major OEMs across both traditional and new energy vehicle segments.
With rapid expansion in North America, the company is building a new manufacturing facility in Austin, Texas.
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Plant Manager / Deputy Plant Manager to lead and scale a newly established manufacturing plant.
⚠️ This role is strictly focused on candidates from automotive interior, exterior trim, or seating manufacturing backgrounds.
⚠️ Fluency in both Mandarin Chinese and English is REQUIRED.
This position will take full ownership of plant operations, including production, engineering, quality, supply chain, and team leadership, ensuring alignment with global standards and OEM expectations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Plant Operations Leadership
- Lead end-to-end plant operations: production, engineering, quality, logistics, and maintenance
- Drive performance across SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost)
- Establish KPIs, reporting systems, and operational standards
2. Manufacturing & Process Excellence
- Oversee high-volume manufacturing (focus on plastics, injection molding, interior/exterior assemblies, or seating systems)
- Implement lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Improve productivity, yield, and cost efficiency
3. Organization Build-Up (Greenfield Focus)
- Build and scale a cross-functional plant team (production, quality, engineering, HR, etc.)
- Develop local leadership and succession pipeline
- Establish a performance-driven, accountable culture
4. Customer & Global Stakeholder Management
- Ensure delivery and quality meet OEM customer requirements
- Act as key interface with global HQ and cross-regional teams
5. Supply Chain & Localization
- Manage suppliers, inventory, and logistics performance
- Drive North America localization strategy and cost optimization
6. Compliance & EHS
- Ensure compliance with US regulations, labor laws, and safety standards
- Build and enforce a strong EHS system
Qualifications
Must-Have Requirements (Hard Filters)
- Automotive Tier 1 experience in ONE of the following ONLY:Interior systems (IP, door panel, trim, cockpit modules)
- Exterior trim (bumpers, fascia, exterior plastics)
- Seating systems
- Fluent in Mandarin Chinese + English (mandatory for daily communication with HQ)
- 10+ years manufacturing experience, including:
- 5+ years in plant-level leadership (Plant Manager / Deputy / Sr. Operations Leader)
- Bachelor’s degree or above (Engineering preferred)
Technical Expertise
- Strong experience in:
- Plastics / injection molding / assembly manufacturing
- Deep understanding of:
- Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma / Operational Excellence
- IATF 16949 / ISO quality systems
- Proven experience in:
- P&L ownership
- Cost control and KPI management
