Our client is a well-established and growth-oriented mining organization focused on the development, optimization, and expansion of precious and base metals assets across North America.
This is a highly visible opportunity to join a growing technical leadership team, reporting directly to the VP, Projects. The successful candidate will serve as the senior metallurgical authority across the organization's project portfolio, providing technical leadership and governance through all stages of project development, from early-stage studies through engineering, commissioning, and operational readiness.
This role combines technical expertise, project leadership, strategic decision-making, and cross-functional collaboration, requiring an individual who can confidently operate between project development teams, engineering consultants, operational stakeholders, and executive leadership. The ideal candidate will be technically strong, highly collaborative, and capable of influencing decisions at both executive and operational levels.
What You Will Achieve in This Role:
• Provide technical leadership and metallurgical expertise across a diverse development and project portfolio
• Lead metallurgical and process engineering inputs throughout study, design, execution, commissioning, and operational readiness phases
• Oversee and govern metallurgical test work programs, ensuring technical rigor and alignment with project objectives
• Review, challenge, and approve metallurgical process designs, flowsheets, plant modifications, and expansion initiatives
• Support the development of PEA, Pre-Feasibility, and Feasibility studies through technical evaluation and strategic guidance
• Evaluate metallurgical performance drivers and provide recommendations to optimize plant recovery, throughput, and overall process performance
• Partner closely with project development teams, operations, geometallurgy, engineering, and external consultants to ensure successful project delivery
• Review technical reports, engineering deliverables, and consultant work products while identifying risks, gaps, and opportunities for improvement
• Support water management, tailings management, and broader processing initiatives across precious and base metals operations
• Act as a key technical resource during operational readiness, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities
• Ensure metallurgical solutions are practical, scalable, operationally achievable, and aligned with long-term business objectives
• Present technical recommendations, study findings, and project updates to senior leadership and executive stakeholders
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of corporate metallurgical standards and best practices
What You Must Bring to This Role:
• Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mineral Processing Engineering, or a related discipline
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation required
• 10+ years of progressive experience across metallurgy, mineral processing, project development, engineering, and mining operations
• Minimum 5+ years of direct process plant operations or operational support experience
• Strong experience within precious metals and/or base metals processing environments
• Demonstrated experience supporting and leading metallurgical inputs into PEA, Pre-Feasibility, and Feasibility studies
• Experience reviewing and approving process flowsheets, plant modifications, expansion projects, and optimization initiatives
• Strong understanding of metallurgical test work programs, process design governance, and project execution methodologies
• Experience managing engineering consultants and technical service providers throughout study and execution phases
• Exposure to commissioning, start-up, and operational readiness activities for mining and processing facilities
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to evaluate complex technical challenges and develop practical solutions
• Ability to confidently communicate and influence technical and non-technical stakeholders across all levels of the organization
• Experience working within multicultural and geographically dispersed project teams
• Spanish language proficiency is considered an asset
