Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Product Development Manager to lead the development and execution of a diverse portfolio of consumer products spanning pet accessories, toys, feeding products, travel items, drinkware, stationery, seasonal products, and other hard goods. This individual will own multiple product categories from concept through production, partnering closely with overseas factories, sourcing, packaging, compliance, licensing, sales, and operations to deliver innovative, high-quality products on time and within cost targets.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end product development across multiple hard goods and consumer product categories from concept through commercialization.
- Manage product timelines, critical paths, and launch calendars while ensuring key milestones are achieved.
- Partner with Design, Licensing, Sales, Packaging, Sourcing, Compliance, and Operations throughout the development process.
- Collaborate directly with overseas manufacturers to manage development, costing, tooling, engineering, sampling, and production readiness.
- Review product specifications, BOMs, costing, packaging, testing requirements, and production documentation.
- Drive sample management, product evaluations, approvals, revisions, and final production signoff.
- Identify opportunities for product innovation, value engineering, and cost savings without compromising quality.
- Ensure products meet retailer, licensing partner, safety, and compliance requirements.
- Manage multiple product categories simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Support assortment planning by evaluating trends, competitive products, and customer opportunities.
- Work closely with Supply Chain and Operations to ensure a seamless transition from development into production and delivery.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of product development experience within consumer products, hard goods, pet products, housewares, drinkware, stationery, toys, or similar categories.
- Experience developing products with overseas manufacturers, particularly throughout Asia.
- Strong understanding of sourcing, manufacturing, tooling, costing, packaging, testing, and compliance.
- Ability to manage numerous product launches and complex development calendars simultaneously.
- Excellent project management and cross-functional communication skills.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP or PLM systems.
- Experience working with licensed consumer products is a strong plus.
Salary $100,000-$120,000
